Clarksville Downtown Market, A Summertime Tradition

From mid-May to mid-October, Clarksville Downtown Market is a special place to be on Saturday mornings. It takes place on Public Square in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

Starting time is 8am and it continues until noon in the hottest part of the summer. Each week there is a new array of fresh produce, crafts and baked goods and a variety of vendors bringing home grown and homemade products to sell.

Clarksville Downtown Market has activities to entertain you while you shop. There is music and an abundance of eating places making it more than just a fruit and veggie market. One sweet smell you will enjoy is the cooking of the caramel corn. It is hard to pass by without making a purchase and snacking as you shop. Come for breakfast and stay for lunch at one of the other food vendors. The food is fresh and delicious and there is plenty to take home for later.

If you are new to Clarksville, come check it out. This is an award winning market and gets better with each season. This year there are more vendors and opportunities to fill boxes at a low fixed price.

The Clarksville Downtown Market is an event and a great place to visit and people watch. Well behaved pets are welcome and you will see an abundance of happy people with their pets. Bring plenty of cash to make it easy on the vendors and to move more quickly from vendor to vendor

Bring a tote because the veggies can get heavy. I like to take my husband along to carry my purchases. He like to splurge on a fried pie as his payment for his toting services. Thankfully some vendors now accept credit cards for purchases.

You might even find a special gift or get to do some early Christmas shopping.

Good idea, Debbie, to bring along the other half to carry the purchases. In Paris, I had a little shopping buggy, which I also used from time to time in NYC but got rid of when we moved to Charlotte. Sometimes when I go to a farmer's market here I still wish I had that buggy.

Looks to be a very nice market to visit, I always enjoy supporting the local farmer or manufacturer of a product, rather than a large corporation.

Hi Debbie, I can't possibly go to a Farmer's Market and come home empty handed. Clarksville TN residents are lucky to have a great one.

Oh, now this is my kind of market, Debbie!  Besides the divine fresh produce, I would definitely have to have some of Lucille's popcorn!

I've also noticed that some of our produce market vendors have begun taking credit cards too. That's such a convenience, especially when you're just not used to carrying cash anymore!
