This morning, I was working with two ladies at the church assembling information for the upcoming annual congregation meeting,
when my phone rang.
Of course I answered it. You never know who might be calling! I answered because maybe I could help someone quickly, or explain that I could call them back within the hour, if needed.
THIS caller was from a company who helps Promote a real estate agent’s business or website, or something…
I told the young male caller that this was not a good time to talk, and that I was in a meeting.
.
“Now Mary”, he said, “I know you are not in a meeting”! (This was the same condescending, finger-wagging tone that your first grade teacher may have used when you told her your dog ate your homework.)
“I am in a meeting”, I repeated.
.
And he insisted I was not.
.
So I hung up.
Too bad, I will never know what he was selling. Too bad, I didn’t think quickly enough to tell him before I hung up,
“Here’s a clue for you son, if you want to earn my business, it’s probably not a good idea to call me a liar.”
(finger- wagging- right back at ya!)
