Carousel Realty was started in 1998 making us one of the oldest existing real estate firms in Dyersburg. From the very beginning I have strived to make Carousel Realty different from all the rest. They say the best way to creat a great business is to mimic other successful businesses.
After analyzing real estate firms across the country, I came to the conclusion that training is the most important factor in having a "Great" real estate office! After training and receiving my real estate license in 1992, I began training to receive different real estate designations.
The first of these was the GRI designation which stands for Graduate-Real Estate Institute. This helped me become a more "professional Realtor". The next designation I attained was the ABR which stands for Accrediated Buyers Representative, which allows me to represent only the buyer in a transaction. The last designation I have studied for and received is E-PRO. I am most proud of this one because I spent a lot of time learning how to market real estate on the internet.
In addition to training being important to a real estate business, attracting dynamic agents is also key to a great office. I am proud to say that the Coldwell Banker Real Estate Office here in Dyersburg shut their doors last year and the broker/owner and one of his best agents came to work for Carousel Realty. In my opinion, Jackie Keeling(previous owner of Coldwell Banker franchise) is probable the number one Realtor in Dyersburg. His office was consistantly the number one office in sales for the Dyersburg area. Jackie loves to sell real estate and got tired of the problems sometimes associated with employees. I approached Jackie and told him I needed him in my office to "sell" but also to train my agents how to sell and take good care of their clients.
In the video, you will see 3 of my agents(some were out of town) in addition to Jackie training them. This training takes place each and every week. One of the lady Realtors(Renee Busse) you see in the video started out with me as my office manager (about 4 years ago) but received her real estate license last year and is now full time selling real estate. Also in the video you can see a couple of empty seats. We are looking for two more agents who want to be "great agents".
Last week was pretty important to Carousel Realty because we brought in an instructor with Activerain(real estate networking company). If you click into this link you can read an article I published online last week about this event.

Hello Mike my Friend! Training is the best thing you can offer your agents so that they can be the best that they can be. (sounds like a army? commercial) Hey! What do you think about Vimeo??
You certainly do have a great office and wonderful agents ... I met several of them in person last week at that spectacular event you put together with Brad Andersohn of Active Rain Real Estate Network. Your office is innovative and yet hometown friendly. Your emphasis on training is unique in most private offices. Usually it's only in corporate chains in big cities that you find the kind of hands-on training that you offer in Dyersburg. If I were an agent in Dyersburg, TN, I would consider it an honor to fill one of those empty chairs.
BTW, I have both the GRI and E-PRO designations (but not your ABR) and a FL brokers license ... and I just wanted to say that the E-PRO is one of the most rewarding but difficult courses that I have ever taken as an agent, even as difficult as the brokers license course. Congratulations to you!
What a great post. I am only sorry that I was not in town today to be at the training and in one of those chairs. Jackie always does a good job with the training. I look forward to having the opportunity to receive many of those same desinations. Thanks for all your help. Joey
Larry, thanks for visiting and commenting. Joey, we did miss you yesterday at the training. Vickie, the jury is out on vimeo as far as I am concerned. It takes 2-3 hours after entering the video before it is available to you. I plan to bite the bullet with Mixpo pretty soon. Vickie, are you using your flip video yet? I guess you asked about vimeo because you are ready to start videoing.
