Color the Park School Supplies Drive In Charlotte's Ballantyne Corporate Park begins July 18th and runs through August 1st.

Tuesday, July 18th, is the first day of Ballantyne Corporate Park's 10th Annual Color The Park School Supplies Drive, benefiting Classroom Central.  In recognition of its 10th anniversary of the Color The Park School Supplies Drive, the event organizers have come up with the following suggestions on how you can contribute:

1. Make a monetary donation with code “Color the Park Ballantyne.” Did you know that just a $5 donation will provide an entire class with pencils for a full semester?

2. Donate essential school supplies in your building lobby in the Ballantyne Corporate Park.

3. Order lunch through Foodsby, and $1 of your delivery fee will be donated to the cause.

4. Volunteer with Togetherhood to make flashcards for kids in need at Flashcard Formation on July 19.

5. Donate $5, and enjoy a Sunrise Yoga class on July 20.

6. Take an Orangetheory Fitness class on July 24 class for just $10.

7. Come out and celebrate at the Ballantyne Social Hour on August 1!

Classroom Central is a "free store" for teachers in six Charlotte area counties, providing needed school supplies to more than 100,000 children who live in poverty. More than 50% of the Charlotte region's students live in poverty and school supply donations play a huge role in helping prepare these children for success in the upcoming school year.

Donation barrels will be located in the building lobbies in Ballantyne Corporate Park. Besides colored markers, colored pencils and crayons, all school supply donations would be appreciated. Check out the graphic below for what supplies are needed in the Charlotte area and much is needed. Classroom Central is hoping to get donations of some 1.8 million school supply items.

Dorie Dillard ~ hi Dorie, initially this Ballantyne Corporate Park effort was to collect colored markers and that's where the name came from. Since then, it's evolved into a full-fledged school supplies drive.

Sally K. & David L. Hanson ~ hi Sally and David... don't know about your area, but I'm appalled by how many kids in our area need school supplies. The community does a great job in raising funds and supplies, but the need never seems to diminish.

Wayne Martin ~ that's for sure, Wayne. And I popped by Walmart the other day where I picked up all sorts of supplies like notebooks, crayons, erasers, etc. at about 25 to 50 cents each. Walked out with bags full of stuff to donate for less than $15.

Jerry Newman ~ hi Jerry... Charlotte residents always somehow pull through in such situations... but between the peanut butter drive for food banks and the school supplies drie this month, it's a reminder of how many needy people there are in our area.
