MARKETING & INNOVATION

"Business has only two functions - marketing & innovation" --- Milan Kundera

As in any business, whether it's automotive or Real Estate, we manage the business but we have no control over the market, other people, or what drives the economy. To achieve long-term performance that is unmatched by competitors, we must adapt to market changes and stay innovative. A business owner simply can't run out of gas and expect the consumer to be loyal. That is the challenge to all business owners. In order to succeed, the business owner has to accelerate, and embrace technology using creativity more effectively to survive in a competitive environment. Plus, it takes a lot of fluids and elbow grease to run a business like a "well oiled machine".

WHAT FUELS YOUR PASSION?

"Adaptability and constant innovation is key to the survival of any company operating in a competitive market."  --- Shiv Nadar

In "Built To Last," authors Jerry Porras' and Jim Collins' discuss "preserving a core ideology." With 170 days or a less than a half a year left in 2017, now is the time to analyze one's "BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals)!" When it comes to calendar days, time is limited. Don't let the interference of other people's noise, excuses, or procrastinations come between you and your end goal. As soon as I saw this old truck in Forney, Texas, (my guess is it was built in the early 1940's) I had to ask myself, will I still have the fuel I need to achieve my goals if I keep allowing distractions to interrupt the operation of my business? Just as a truck or automobile needs gas to keep running to high performance, so too must I fuel my passion!

Patricia's Tip for the Day

©Marketing & Innovation is ad hoc, or at best, guided by self-discipline.

Roy Kelley - I always appreciate receiving your insights. There are many agents who think the business is going to come to them and they don't need to go after the business. I also think there are some who shouldn't be in the business. And I know some who just like to brag they have a license but never sell any properties. Without passion, there's nothing to brag about, is there?

Gene Mundt, IL/WI Mortgage Originator - FHA/VA/Conv/Jumbo/Portfolio/Refi - Thank you! I blame myself for being conditioned to compare myself to others. That's how I was raised. My mother always compared me to other girls my age and I guess I'm doing it to myself now more than I realize. Thanks for the wake-up call to action on my part!

I need to stop watching how many points and features others are getting. So many are in the 3 million now and I don't understand why it takes me so long to catch-up. I must resign myself to the fact that whether what I write is a feature or not, it doesn't matter. Plus, I can't expect myself to catch up to others. All the matters are the genuine people out here on ActiveRain that are supporting each other in the most positive way.

With a grateful heart, I appreciate you. Thank you!

Patrica I think we both know the answer to your question "will I still have the fuel I need to achieve my goals if I keep allowing distractions to interrupt the operation of my business?" is no.  And you are to much of a professional to ever let that happen.

It's easy to become distracted today. There is noise from the phone, computer, email, other people, chores that need to be done, and on and on. Staying focused takes real determination.
