Getting Good Information

“Getting good information . . . . requires that you ask the

right answers and listen to what is being said by the

other person by following the 80-20 rule . . . . and

being a proactive listener.”

Lou Ludwig Sales and Management Consultant,

Success Coach, Speaker, Trainer and Author

As I see it . . . . . . . .

Getting good information

To get the right answers you have to ask the right question . . . . and proactively listen to the person who is speaking.

The foundation of asking the right questions comes with the process of proactive listening . . . . and applying the 80–20 rule.

The 80-20 rule is . . . . Listen 80% of the time to secure information and knowledge. Use 20% of your time in asking the right questions.

Being a proactive listener puts you in the position of having the understanding . . . . and the knowledge of the person . . . . or their situation. Listening will enable us to help the other person reach their objectives.

The more that you are able to effectively help other people the more you are able to help yourself.

Getting good information . . . . requires that you ask the right answers and listen to what is being said by the other person by following the 80-20 rule and being a proactive listener.

Too funny, Lou but, I was at a birthday party for 3 different friends this afternoon at the lake. Many of the attendees were past or present clients and all of them, of course, want to tell me what they've done or are doing to their homes. At one point later in the evening, I realized that nearly an hour of conversation spawned from one question that I had asked...and I had to say nothing more other than to acknowledge what they said!

I learned a lesson very early in life from my grandmother - "People love to talk about themselves. You be a great listener and they'll leave you thinking they just had the best conversation of their lives!"

That theory still applies, doesn't it, Lou?!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

I am a great believer in garnering as much information and data as possible. Incomplete or inaccurate dats will lead to inadequate decisions so you can never know too much.
