Not So Speechless Sunday: Thank You Firefighters!

After the Santa Barbara Farmers Market, we drove to Cold Spring Tavern for breakfast.  We had not ventured that way since the Whittier fire began on the afternoon of July 8th.  It happened in the afternoon after we had breakfast there.

It was good to see this historical gem intact.  Since the fire started 3 ridges in front of this location, the fire fighters set up temporary sprinklers at the site to water the surrounding forest and create puddles.   This fired burned over 18,395 acres, (29 square miles) as of Friday was 83% contained.

Thank you Firefighters!

Wishing you all a delightful Sunday!

The one job I never wanted is a firefighter. It takes a certain strain of bravery to be one, and it takes the ability of conquering a childhood fear.

I'm in awe of the job our firefighters do, especially when dealing with wildland fires. They are so unpredictable, and I can't imagine how the firefighters can stand the extra weight and heat of their gear.

Good morning, Alexandra and Ron --- I'm glad to hear the fires in your area are getting closer to that 100% containment.   Cheers to firefighters everywhere!

Not keeping up with the news I would have totally missed the fires had I not get an alert from my Fed Ex app telling me about service interruptions. People on the West Coast know how hard the Firefighters work with these fires, their heroic actions words can not describe. Great picture to compensate, I am sure any  Firefighter would get a free meal there...Endre

Firefighters are to be thanked and congratulated over and over....it can never be enough for the "harm's way" that their jobs demand.

Hi Ron & Alexandra - Several years ago, when we had some very large wildfires, we saw similar sentiments everywhere - those guys are awesome and can't be thanked enough.

What a delightfully quaint place that is, Alexandra.  California's firefighters are experiencing a tough workout currently.  I hope they soon get rest.

Yep, they are contemporary heroes. So glad to see the little eatery is unscathed.
