On July 26, 2017, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau reported nationwide new single family home sales increased 0.8% to an annual rate of 610,000 homes in June 2017 from May of 2017 of 605,000 homes, and jumped 9.1% from June of 2016 an annual rate of 559,000 homes.
The median sold value of new home was $310,800, and the average sales price was $379,500 in June of 2017. There were estimated 272,000 new houses for sale a 5.4 months supplies of available inventory in at the end of June 2017.
Regionally, new homes sales in the Northeast unchanged 0.0% in June 2017 from May 2017, but jumped 41.4% from June of 2016. In the Midwest new homes sales rose 10.0% in June 2017 from May 2017, but decreased 12.0% from June of 2016. In the South new homes sales declined 6.1% in June 2017 from May 2017, but higher 0.9% from June of 2016. In the West new homes sales gained 12.5% in June 2017 from May 2017, and increased 33.3% from June of 2016.
