How to Safely View the Great American Eclipse from NJ

You've probably heard the news that the first solar eclipse visible in the continental United States in 99 years will occur in a few weeks. In fact, in some groups, eclipse mania has taken over with people frantically buying tickets to go to remote places to witness the 2-3 minutes of totality.

If you're not planning to travel to see the total solar eclipse on August 21st, you can still watch it livestreamed on NASA-TV. You can also witness a pretty good partial solar eclipse right from your backyard. If you can see the Sun on August 21st, you'll be able to see the eclipse. Here's what you need to know.

If you were driving, you could drive to South Carolina, see the total eclipse on the 21st, and then head home on the 22nd.....Just saying.....

This is quite the buzz right now. We won't see the total eclipse here in Colorado either. I think it said 90%. The northwestern states will be jam packed with people that week.

Wayne & Jean oddly I havnen't heard anything about this in AZ. But I don't listen to local news often. I'm guessing if we don't have a monsoon roll in we might have a good chance of seeing the eclispe. I'll find out for sure now - thanks!

Wayne and Jean- I spoke to a friend who has been planning on seeing the solar eclipse for years. He'd booked a hotel in Columbia SC and today received an email saying that their renovations would not be ready in time for the eclipse. After 3 hours of searching, he was able to find a hotel but for twice what the other would have been!!!
