Open House Result Part 3

But there is one last thing about my open house experience. You see, the sellers were out of town and they left the cat in the house. Well, I'm not much of a cat guy, so when the cat started meowing like a banshee and rubbing up against my leg it was a bit disturbing. I thought maybe the cat needed some milk or food or something, so I texted my client to ask if the cat needed to be fed.

My client called immediately and said the cat has plenty of food, but might just need some attention. "The cat is a people lover and probably misses having people around," he said.

So, I buckled down and went far beyond my agency duty and pet the cat for a bit, all the while hoping someone would visit the open house. At some point, I'd had enough and got to work doing searches for clients, while continuing to hold out hope for a visitor.

As I blogged in part 2, there was a visitor, but no sale.

As I was shutting down lights and packing up at the end of another unsuccessful open house, I went to the upstairs hallway and lo and behold - there on the floor was a pile of cat droppings.

Oh my, I couldn't believe it. Cat crap right there for all the open house visitors to see. It happened after the one couple came through, but thoughts raced through my head of what could have happened if someone saw that on a walk through.

So, in the end, the open house brought some pain (in the rejection of another unsuccessful open house), a potential client (who now tells my they are moving to Hawaii), and a new duty to add to the list of duties at an open house (clean up the cat crap).

Overall, I love this job - never know what to expect and can always laugh about it if you want. lol

Don't forget to refer the client through AR to Hawaii.

Maybe you could visit them after they buy! :)

All the best

I would have asked my client to take the cat to a lodge for a vacation as well. Yuck cat crap????

If it weren't for all the crap (cat included) that we have to take this job would be too easy, wouldn't pay well, and everyone would being doing it.
