August 8th is International Cat Day.... if you're a cat lover (like me), you know it's a great day to celebrate "all things feline!" The day is also known as World Cat Day in some circles. International Cat Day was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Cats are one of humanity's oldest and beloved pets (in ancient Egypt cats were considered gods) and today thought to be the most popular pet on the planet. It's believed there are more than 200 cat breeds.
And did you know that you can also send greetings to your fellow cat lovers? Check out these great International Cat Day cards.
“My relationships with my cats has saved me from a deadly, pervasive ignorance.”
...William S Burroughs
“Cats choose us; we don’t own them.”
“Time spent with a cat is never wasted.”
A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.”
“Cats are connoisseurs of comfort.”
How we behave toward cats here below determines our status in heaven.”
...Robert S Heilein
Here's wishing all my fellow cat lovers and cat parents and their cats a very happy International Cat Day!
