Liz and I have been helping people buy and sell houses for about 15 years. And one of the things that we know matter a lot is having a network of support people we can trust to take great care of our clients.
Our preferred home inspector does a thorough job without scaring the bejeebus out of our buyers. When the inspection is done, they'll know what's right and wrong with the home and how to best proceed.
And our loan officer? He's all that and a bag o' chips too. One of the first things we look for a buyer to do after contacting us is get with a mortgage pro. Doesn't have to be our guy, but you know we'd love for it to be him.
Why? It's not because we get some special reward from him, because we don't. What we get is total comfort in knowing that if he says a buyer is good to go, they're good to go! He's never yet let us down with a promise that wasn't met.
And he's also good at telling prospective buyers the hard truths, but giving them the guidance they need to become homeowners once they fix the problems.
And sometimes it's a small world and having a trusted partner comes with an unexpected perk. Recently I was at the table with some would be sellers, and one of the first things we knew needed to get done was determine what they could do from a financing perspective. The seller mentioned a bank, the same bank our guy works at. And as it turns out, they'd worked with our guy in the past and loved him.
And the fact that our guy was someone they trusted meant we gained more trust with the sellers.
It's a win-win to have partners you can trust AND others trust.
