How Does Your State Compare?

I really enjoy having a sense of the Real Estate market locally BUT even nationally. I do think, in most instances, housing prices have a connection with the level of average wages in any given area. The higher the average wage the higher the average housing prices. I think the more bang for your buck would be of interest to retirees.

What State Gives You the Most ‘Bang for Your Buck’? [INFOGRAPHIC] | Keeping Current Matters

Some Highlights:

  • Thinking of moving across the country? How far will your money take you?
  • The majority of states in the Midwest and South offer a lower cost of living compared to Northeast and Western states.
  • The ‘Biggest Bang for your Buck’ comes in Mississippi where, compared to the national average, you can actually purchase $116.01 worth of goods for $100.

Well that's dissapointing news Doug Dawes .  I would still choose to stay in CA even if I lose $13.00.  Great insight into how our states are so different.

Just be thankful you don't live in Hawaii Jim Cheney

It is interesting to see how the states are clumped.

Great Chart Doug!  Before buying in Sedona, cost of living was very important.... after comparing the higher cost of living in a resort area, it was still a whole lot cheaper than living in SoCal!

Here in Hawaii, the housing prices are way out of whack with the average income.  When you're dealing with a resort location, it's all about what somebody will pay, and that somebody is usually from out of state and owns more than one home, therefore making it challenging for the locals.
