Abutting the Public Market in Santa Barbara is newer luxury condo building. Like with a home curb appeal enhances the value as well as its appeal. One of the planters has a new varietal of compact bougainvillea (as pictured above) bushes. The flowers can be found in clumps on the branches.
The trunk that shares the planter space is the tree whose branches are leafy fronds. Its spare look contrasts beautifully with the lush stalks of the bougainvilleas.
To the left of this planter take note of a smaller one in the corner with a burgundy sword tree. This tree adds color and an additional sculptural element and draws the eye to the corner.
The landscape architect understood how that adding sculptural plants emphasize and soften the boxy lines of the building. We are certain they even factored in the shadows that the plants would cast on the building.
Since three of our favorite vendors are in the Public Market, we are here often, and each time we appreciate the curb appeal as well as the intelligence behind the plant selection.
