Yesterday afternoon, we were at the car wash in Carpinteria. While waiting for our car, I noticed that the fig tree which surrounds two palm trees was shock full of fruit. The fruit is still green, and will need another month or two to ripen.

Love palm trees but at our condo in Florida they are having to cut down diseased ones. It is like losing a member of the family.

Dick Greenberg The owner of the car wash/and gas station does not object to anyone waiting for their car to help themselves to figs.
When I was a kid we had a fig tree in the backyard. My mother told stories about my sister who was about 6 years old at the time having visions while they still lived in Kansas. My father had told her the home we were moving to in California had a fig tree. She was very disappointed to learn that fig trees produced only fruit, and not Fig Newtons. She told me in later life that the disappointment was almost as great as learning the truth about Santa Claus.
