Commissioned sales people probably have more goals than any other working group. I always have goals before me; sales numbers, health (OK -weight management), and other outside work accomplishments.
This morning I was flooded with 'what if' thoughts. The thought that started the stream is the Biblical quote "...be transformed by the renewing of your mind." (Romans 12:2). The next thought that flowed was "As within, as without."
As commissioned sales people we (along with the rest of the world) are conditioned to always look without and measure our achievements from without. But, What if?
What if I were committed on focusing within and transforming my mind? What if I really practiced the Dale Carnegie rules and did not criticize, condemn or complain? What if I really showed people appreciation and was actually hearty in my approbation and lavish in my praise? What if I smiled more, listened better, and focused on making people feel important?
What if I really concentrated and applied Og Mandinos Scroll Marked 2 (Love in my heart) from his book The Greatest Salesman in the World ? What if?
There was a time in my life when I wanted to improve my German and Spanish. Because I know Bible I used it as my baseline. I would read the 23rd Psalm in English then German and Spanish. I did this with the story of the Prodigal Son and the Lord's Prayer. I read these writings in all three languages daily. Not sure if my German and Spanish improved but I remember how it hit me when I was lying on a soft green grass under palm trees in Hawaii. I really hit me how well my life was going; I felt great, business was great, and I was happy. I started wondering why and then I realized that the readings raised my consciousness level. At that time I had transformed within; "As within in as without."
Of course you can continue to work with out but consider focusing on within; focus on transforming your mind.
