Today, Saturday, August 19th is Clear The Shelters Day sponsored by NBC Charlotte, as well as by NBC and Telemundo-owned stations in cities around the country. Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption initiative whose purpose is to find fur-ever homes for homeless pets. Since 2015, with over 900 participating shelters, almost 105,000 pet adoptions have taken place as a result of this initiative.
Animal shelters get overcrowded in the summer months because of spring litters. NBC Charlotte has teamed up with Charlotte area shelters to help find fur-ever homes for the homeless pet population. Many of these shelters have agreed to waive or reduce adoption fees today. All pets available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
