Who Remembers The Bates Motel?

By
Education & Training with United Realty Group

Was driving today and came across this hotel with the infamous name.  Then I pulled up and this is what I saw. See the sign below.

Bates Motel

Check-In only.

Because you may NEVER check out!

Psycho was a classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller dating back to 1960. It was one of the most memborable thrillers of all time.  Don't remember how old I was when I first saw it but to this day remember how creepy it was as me and my brother sat glued to the television. Remember the ones you had to walk to in order to turn the channel?

After you see this movie, going into a motel shower will never be the same again.

What was your favorite scary movie growing up?

Guess a lot of people must stop and take a photo as a guy standing outside gave me his toothless smile as I emerged from my car to take a photo.

This Bates Motel is located on Dixie Highway in Lake Worth Florida.

It's only $67.00 per night which was advertised out front. What a bargain!

Anyone want to go? For reservations, please use your rotary dialer.

Good morning Janice Hope Zaltman LEED AP ,

OMG..so glad you stopped and took a photo. I remember watching Alfred Hitchcock movies and loving them! I watched them with my brother and sister and we were all scared together!

God morning Janice. Never saw Psycho but know of it. I'm not a scary movie fan but I can't figure out why anyone would use the name.

Good Morning Sheila Anderson I'm guessing they have the same last name or quirky humor.

Hi Janice --  like Susan Haughton -- makes you wonder which came first, the movie or this hotel?  I don't recall cable or a microwave in the original movie.  I typically avoid the traditionally scary movies these days.

The one that scared the crap out of me as a child was that made for TV movie, Trilogy of Terror.  That little tiki/island looking doll chasing the woman around was terrifying.  I saw it last month as an adult and laughed.  Ah, what a difference age and perspective make.

I wonder if they do any business at all with a name like that. I wouldn't want to stay there!

I will never forget that old movie, "Psycho" and the Bates Hotel.  A place where folks checked in, but never checked out.

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat Glad that you saw it. It was so fun to see the name on the motel. I won't venture inside.

I have always enjoyed Hitchcock movies, although scary movies are not my thing these days. That's a great photo - no doubt the owners of this place get all kinds of comments!

$67.00 a night is a bargain at the Bates Hotel . . . . But you just have to be concerted about taking a shower.

Good luck and success.
