This is the 77th year of celebrating Nisei Week in Little Tokyo. The first Nisei Week began in 1934 in Little Tokyo for seven days and nights. In the ensuing half century, Nisei Week’s format has undergone surprisingly little change from its basic origins. In short, Nisei Week was born from the depths of the Great Depression. In essence, the goal of Nisei Week was to help exapand the largest hub of to draw more attention and customers to Little Tokyo to enhance its overall economic growth.
