Dairy Farms and Nearby Homes in Elk Grove

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

It was a bittersweet day yesterday as we held a marathon open house in Wildhawk West Village, which is in the Elk Grove school district. On the one hand, I am focused on my seller finding the perfect buyer for his home in that desirable school district. On the other, we had to return our adopted cat Horatio to the no-kill sanctuary in Elk Grove.

They finally had an opening, in the middle of their full-blown upper respiratory breakout. That meant Horatio no longer had to reside in my husband's office, and our own cats could stop feeling stressed and confused that a door was closed and they knew a cat lurked behind it.

You can read more about this story and see the photos in my personal blog today at this link: The Downside to Buying Homes Near Dairy Farms in Elk Grove.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - Best wishes on getting your seller's home sold ASAP to the right buyer for all the right reasons!

Sending an adopted cat back, is not an easy decision. Doing what's best for the animal is the greatest kindness you can give.

Good morning, Elizabeth -- I'm trying to remember a field trip to a farm but if it happened, I would likely have broken into the theme song from Green Acres too --- and not as Oliver Douglas.  I'm totally a Lisa in that regard and I have no trouble admitting it.

Here's hoping Horatio finds his new home very soon and that life is back to normal(or as normal as these things are) in your household soon.

Michael Jacobs We visited the State Capitol in St. Paul to admire the golden horses on top, that's one field trip I recall. Another trip to a bakery was interesting, how could it not! But the dairy farm was not meant for me.

Elizabeth --- I remember the bakery field trip too.  Growing up in California meant a couple of trips to see the missions too.

Michael Jacobs We didn't get any mission trips. And we certainly did not visit any Willy Wonka factories, either. Darn!

Got to admit, Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents ... I'm chuckling a bit over your reaction to the cow farms.  This was a pretty common problem in our area of Illinois about 10 to 20 years ago, but the subdivisions pretty much ended-up crowding the farms out ... eventually.  I will tell you that there are those that have quite a different reaction to those farm smells.  My farm girl wife for one.  She gets a whiff of them and says, "Smells like HOME!"  Maybe not pleasant smells, but pleasant memories.  Go figure ...

So sorry about Horatio having to go back.  Not an easy choice, but you have to do what's best for the two that were there first.  The good news is that he is safe in the shelter until another family decides to take him home.

Gene Mundt, IL/WI Mortgage Originator - FHA/VA/Conv/Jumbo/Portfolio/Refi In retrospect, it was amusing. I actually asked my husband if that horrible smell was in our car, LOL. He said yes, and horror crossed my face.

I guess people like your wife get used to it when they live there but it was kind of a rude awakening to my sensitivities, ha, ha, ha.

Chris Ann Cleland Yes, he is safe there. And they know more about him now, so they can better match him to a family. Plus, I'd like to think we have house-trained him, socialized him to humans.

Elizabeth- i still say roll down the windows!  We were at our son-in-law's family farm once. Lots of pigs! You can imagine the odor!!  I sympathize with you. And very sorry that things didn't work out with Horatio. They'll find a good place for him.
