Front Doors...

Your front door. Have you looked at it recently? Does it get baked by the sun and pounded by the weather? I will bet you that it does. Go take a look right now...I can wait.

You back? What did you think? Yep, pretty nasty. Front doors are the gateway into your home. I don't think anyone ever used my front door in the home I grew up in, but let's just stay with this premise.

As the first thing a guest, or potential buyer sees of your home, the front door is quite important. When I work with a seller, we look hard at the front door. Is there any glass in the door fogged, cracked, or chipped? Does the door itself need paint or stain? What about the door hardware? Front door hardware ages quickly in the elements. Even if it is working correctly, many times we will put new hardware in to improve our first impressions.

When you start thinking about selling your home, start with the front door. The sale of your home could hinge on its looks! (Sorry, I love puns)

Good morning Peter. The front door in my parents home was used when they bought it and when buyers used it when they sold it! Luckily, it was always well maintained! Enjoy your day!

Peter den Boer An element so easily overlooked and many agents seem unwilling to point this and other deficiencies out to sellers when listing a home.
