GOOD MORNING FROM THE BEAUTIFUL LAKES REGION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE - Here's your weather summary for Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 -
Overnight rain and thundershowers have left our area, leaving in their wakes very comfortable mostly sunny skies and moderate temperatures reaching the upper 70's. Humidity will remain under 5%. Wind speed will be slightly elevated out of the west from 10-15 MPH, gusting to 25 MPH.
Skies are expected to clear into the evening with patches of fog after midnight. The temperature will fall to a chilly overnight low of 55°. If you've got a fireplace and wood still in the shed, this will be a perfect night to bring the two together.
Wind out of the west will continue into the evening at 10 MPH, becoming light and variable.
Today we take a look at Gilford New Hampshire's Gunstock Mountain Resort, a four-season recreation venue on the western rim of Lake Winnipesaukee that offers enjoyable experiences sure to keep everyone smiling.
Gunstock, as the locals refer to it, is the Lakes Region's premier ski facility, where one can ski, snowboard, tube, snowshoe and cross country ski on some 32 miles of trails. In summer and autumn, the resort welcomes visitors to its breathtaking 1.5-mile, 1,400-foot vertical drop zip line, the longest in the Continental U.S. and the fourth longest in the world.
The mountain is richly endowed with hiking and bike trails and offers several more thrilling adventures , including an off-road Segway tour.
