One of the most beautiful sights we visited on my vacation was the Sete Cidades Lake, In Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. If you look at the picture above and pictures below, the first thing you will notice is that the color of the water in the left hand side of the lake is a different color than on the right. The water is green on the left and blue on the right.
The lake is surrounded by mountains, all with views of the lake. The first four pictures below were taken from one of the mountains that has a path leading up to a beautiful view of the lake. But the best place to take pictures of the lake is from the highest point which has the best view of the lake. There is one view of the lake which is very high up one of the mountains as you will see in some of the pictures below, however, the best view is from the top of this old abandoned hotel on the right. The last three pictures below of lake were taken from the roof of the hotel.
At one point at the top of the mountain I took the pictures from, you actually look down on some small clouds. The first attempt we made to see the Sete Cidades Lake, In Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, a large cloud had engulfed the mountain. When we got towards the top of the mountain we were in heavy rain, even though it was perfectly dry at the bottom of the mountain.
We really lucked out on the second time we went up the mountain. The second time were able to capture the gorgeous views of the lake you see below.
I wish I had a better camera with me, because as beautiful as these pictures are, they do not do justice to actually being there. If you every visit Sao Miguel, I highly recommend you take a trip to see the Sete Cidades Lake, In Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal the first clear day that you get. By the way Sete Cidades means Seven Cities. Enjoy the pictures below.
