An Unusual Request for Sacramento

Think Outside the BoxYesterday, I received a phone call that was a bit unusual.

You know, we all get those unusual calls but this time I thought I would share this one with you since it might be just another way for sellers to perhaps make some money.

A lovely woman who is touring with The Phantom of the Opera called me since she will be performing here in Sacramento from May 18th though June 15th.

Her request was to possibly rent a condo in Downtown Sacramento or even rent a room in someone's house within 10 minutes from the theater which is at 1400 J Street.

Apparently, this actress when touring different States and Cities does this frequently and sometimes gets to meet some lovely families in the process.

She wanted me to assure any homeowner that might want to rent a room to her, that she will be gone evenings and will make herself scarce during the day since she sight sees each area that she performs in. The actress also will provide documentation from her employer as well as character references from families with whom she has stayed with in the past.

I have put a call out to the families in Downtown Sacramento and those sellers who have furnished condos or homes for this lady, on my outside blog Sacramento Real Estate Voice. I am hoping that we can find a family or Seller who is willing and able to throw out the welcome mat, think outside the box, make some cash in the interim and perhaps just get to know a great person in the meantime.

Do you have any unusual requests that you would like to share? Something that perhaps we could all think outside the box about?

Gena, what a great way to meet and help someone out at the same time, think my wife would rent the spare room out, to bad the drive back and forth would be a little to much . . . hope you're able to help her out.

Mike, thanks for the comment. Like your wife, I too would like to particapate but I'm afraid that I don't live Downtown. I think it's a great opportunity for someone and I hope I find the right one. You're though, it would be a long commute for her from your house!

She sounds like a very nice person and I just hope that Sacramento opens their doors to her.

Gena: I am such a fan of Phantom, I would love to have her stay in my home if I were in your area!  What a great opportunity ... and hopefully some lucky property owner will get a backstage pass, too!  You certainly should get front row seats and an invite to the opening night party!

Hi Gena,

Unusual huh?

I had an internet call (actually a phone call from someone who found me online) a couple of weeks ago from someone looking for temporary housing for cast members in my area of Orange County. Just for 2 months while they were in rehersals for a production in Palm Springs. I gave him info on month-to-month rentals.

He then asked if I knew of a theater he could rent temporarily, I gave him info on 2 posts I'd done previously on two different community theaters in our area.

Hi Gena - What an interesting call. Did you recognize this actress by name? I am sure you will be able to find something for her.

Wow Gena -- that is so neat.  It is such a great idea, I bet she does get to meet some really nice people.  Staying in a home really allows you to get a feel for an area.

I had a call a couple of weeks ago from a film producer with Animal Planet.  They were looking for a farm with a pole building and lake that would be suitable for filming a documentary.

Jan, I can't believe that no one has stepped up, yet. I so wish that I could find her a place. Had a prospect but he has never returned my phone call. Oh well, I tried...there's still time and I hope that Sacramento steps up to the plate, soon.

Lynda, sounds like you too, are getting these out of the box requests as well. Glad that you could help them. I hope that I can do the same. I'm still working on it.

Bill, no I didn't recognize it but she is a lovely woman and has a hotel room just in case I don't come up with something for her. She would obviously prefer a condo or living with a family but so far no luck.

Lori, wow that sounds exciting. Were you able to help them? Hope you've had better luck than I've had so far. It seems difficult for some of the folks to think outside the box. This could be a win, win for both individuals. Still hoping Sacramento steps up...

Roberta, so far I am coming up ZERO. No tickets for nada...but still trying.
