According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Ohio State University is offering incentives for both faculty and staff to buy their next home in the thriving University District

In an effort to boost university homeownership, staff can receive an incentive of $6,000 which may increase to as much as $15,000. The current incentive offers a $6,000 zero interest forgivable home that may be used towards the “down payment, closing costs and or reduction in principal amount on a home”

According to Keith Myers, vice president of planning and real estate, interested staff members can now receive 6% of the new home’s appraised value or up to $15,000.

The program which has been in place since 1998 has already offered this incentive to 110 Ohio State employees to purchase homes in the University District. In the past, it has only been open to homes in certain streets and neighborhoods, but the new expanded program is open to the entire University District on each section on campus.
