Welcome to Baker Home Inspection Blog!Home Inspection is a good thing

Knowledge is the Power for Your Freedom to a Worry Free Home!

On some old fashion bath tubs, the fill spout is located inaide the bath tub. The problem with this, is that you don't have the required 1 inch gap between the spout and the overflow area. If the spout can be under the water in the tub, then it can siphon anything surrounding it back into the water lines.

Because the overflow drain of the tub is below the spout, most folk's think there's not going to be a problem with this setup, but you can't assume the drain is going to work right.

Drains have a bad habit of geting clogged up and the bath tub drain, being the lowest, it's the first to start having any sewage back up into it when the sewer line clogs or the septic sytem stops draining.

Now to put this in it's proper light, I am not saying you should rip the tub out and replace it with a new one. I am just saying it should be listed as an area of concern in the report.

You should kbow that the possibility of a coss-connection exists. It's up to you to weigh the pros and cons, and to decide what to do.

Dale - This is interesting and excellent blog. Now that I think about it; a number of years ago, our downstairs shower clogged and backed up because the line outside broke (old clay line) and tree roots matted. We repalced all the old clay with PVC and the problem went away. Clogged lines are a real pain, trying to find the source of the problem.

Dale - Plumbing is something I really don't like messing with unless I have to. Seems I usually have to make several trips to the hardware store just to get one simple thing fixed.

Dale - I need your help. Would you go to Localism and pull up New Braunfels, TX. I wrote about my region but it comes up on one page about N.B. I can not upload pic's, someone else has there's on there which is ok. Then go to : http://localism.com/neighbor/realestateinspector it comes up with a bluebonnet pic which I put on there long time ago and can not be removed but there is no place to upload pic's. I am really confused. Maybe you can make sense of it. Take a look if you will and tell me what you think.

Howdy Carl and Ceil

Carl - I went to both, the link first. That took me to your Localism blog page with the Bluebonnet pic. I think you can only add photos to the main page.

When you clicked on add photos did your My Pictures come up?

If it did, did you give the photo a name in the above box ?

Did you click on done on the right side ?

After you click on done, then your photo will be add to the area of all photos. If you go and click on the View all photos, you'll see a line of small photos, your going to find one of Big Tex in there, that I add tonight. When I add it, I did not know it was going to show my name under it. But it does.

Every time you go to the page you'll one of the other photos are going to be there.

I'll have to go back to my page, and add some photos to tell ya how they are added to your blog it's self. Can't do it right, it's 12:31 A.M. right now. I'll do it tonight ok my friend.
