Happy Labor Day!!

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable one, however you celebrate. I also hope you will also keep the many people impacted by Hurricane Harvey in your thoughts and prayers, and consider helping with donations as you are able.

This national holiday was declared in 1894 by President Cleveland following a significant and tragic labor strike involving the Pullman Company - read about what led up to Labor Day.

The famous, and perhaps infamous, Cardiff Kook statue (in Cardiff CA) was all dressed up for Labor Day back in 2011 when I took this photo. Ironically, at that time people were recovering from Hurricane Irene (8/21 - 8/28), the 7th costliest hurring to hit the US, hitting a number of areas on the East Coast.
