Like an unpredictable relative that crashes family events, we've learned that big Irma is on her way. As usual, she's arriving uninvited and so we must now prepare. Her unwanted visit is never convenient, always expensive (preparing before and cleaning up after her visit) and feels interminable. When she leaves, we'll be discussing her scary visit for years to come, with everything that happens described as 'before Irma' and 'after Irma'.
Since it appears that she's coming no matter how we feel about it, following is an infographic with some tips on how to prepare:
Also, get fresh batteries for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and run any generators outside for safety; get cash from ATMs, make sure you have needed medications or prescriptions and take pictures or videos of every room in the house for insurance purposes. Ideally, upload the pics online.
