glass artThis weekend was perfect weather for the Brandywine Festival of the Arts, running the weekend after Labor Day pretty much since 1991. We have had this event with rainy weather, and dry weather with mud from a previous storm,  but the weather smiled on this event for 2017.

There were about 250 Bellmakerexhibitors, ranging from painters, printmakers, woodworkers, metal workers (i.e. these bells), jewelry makers, gourmet food purveyors and children's toys and clothes for all, as well as the traditional event t-shirts.

As always, people brought their dogs and watering bowls art crowdwere available for these pets, since it was a warm day. The one thing I noticed was that there were more people with humongous strollers, each one holding one or two children  and taking up a whole aisle between exhibits. I almost fell over one of these behemoths and the man pushing it plowed ahead, not even looking who he was aiming it at.

The event is held in Brandywine Park on the banks bridge sparkleof the Brandywine Creek, right in the middle of Wilmington, Delaware. I love to walk over to the Creek and check the condition of the water. This year you could see the rocks which are sometimes hidden when the water is high, and the sun sparkled on the water.

I did talk to a couple who were both artists whoseRoggio card said "Roggio". Charming people who were not youngsters, so I'm wondering if their jewelry (of high quality) artistry came to them later in life. Lots of people, lots of stories!

And how can I forget a most popular feature--the food!  This ranged from a guy cooking burgers on a grill to fancy food trucks, as well as the usual funnel cakes and other sweet treats. My favorite food truck, Koi to Go was there with their heavenly fish tacos of the highest quality and hot and crisp.

Can't wait until next year!
