What Does a Convention Do For Your Business?
This week is the Tennessee Realtors Convention in Memphis TN. I am a State Director and represent my local association. Though that is one of my main purposes of going to this convention it has many other purposes. The opportunities are plentiful and am taking advantage of as many of them as I can.
We have 2 staff leaders retiring this year. They have served 44 years and have given so much to our state association. It will be sad to see them go but I wish them good health and happiness in doing some fun bucket list items in retirement. This is a great chance to tell them how much I have appreciated their hard work.
As 2017 President of Clarksville Association of Realtors and am spending lots of time getting to know the our members that came to the convention. In a more relaxed setting away from town, you see another sides of these people and get to meet spouses and partners. This can only make relationships back hme better.
There are lots of educational opportunities with many hours of CE being awarded. I'm grandfathered on CE hours but that doesn't stop me from wanting to learn and grow my career. National speakers have so much to share and I want to hear what they have to say.
There are many side discussions on where the future of real estate is going. Those here at the convention tend to be the movers and shakers of the industry and will be making real estate happen in the future. It is good to stay connected.
Networking for our association is another opportunity. There are ideas to learn from other association representatives, resources and people to connect with. The personal networking is also very valuable and will fertilize my individual business in the coming years. Many of the people throughout the state have sent me referrals and I have done the same. We like to place business in the hands of people we trust.
It is a chance to be heard and share thoughts and ideas on the markets and trends. I never come away without a list of ideas to consider or implement.
The food is amazing. We have had some wonderful dinners, tried new restaurants and been introduced to new dishes. Sleep is not a top priority and will have some catching up to do in that department when I get home.
The conference fees, travel, meals, lodging and materials I purchase are a tax write-off. It is a good chance for my husband and I to get away and not bear the whole financial burden of a trip. I consider this an investment in myself and in my career.
What does a Realtor Convention do for your Business? There are plenty of rewards and benefits if you engage and participate.
