- Your Lakes Region NH Weather Report, Sept. 11, 2017 -

LET US NOW PRAISE FAMOUS ICE CREAM!

 75℉ Full Sun 52

GOOD MORNING FROM THE BEAUTIFUL LAKES REGION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE - Here's your weather summary for Monday, Sept. 10, 2017 -

At last, a delightful, sunny day is in the forecast.  May all our memories of the tragic events on 9/11/2001, be revived today with resolve to never forget those who fell with the collapse of our World Trade Center towers.

As tragedy strikes and wounds, so does life continue.  Let's then, surround our sorrow with faith, hope and charity, giving relief and friendship to our fellow creatures in want in the true spirit of brotherly and sisterly love.

We all deserve ice cream days in which our troubles, as the song laments, seem so far away.  On this day in the Lakes Region we can also celebrate the beauty and warmth of a full sun with daytime autumn temperatures climbing to 75° but experienced more like 81°.  Winds will be light and mostly out of the northwest to 8 MPH.

Kimball's Banana SplitEvening skies will be clear with temperatures cooling to an overnight low of 52°.

Looking ahead to Friday, we'll see mostly sunny days with daytime highs up around 79° getting up to 80° on Thursday.  Evenings this week will be clear and cool with light and variable winds and overnight low temperatures in the low 50's.

Our rembrances notwithstanding, this sunny week is one in which to enjoy an excursion to some of New Hampshire's best ice creameries.

The NH Department of Agriculture has teamed up with Granite State Dairy Promotion to publish and promote an "ice cream trail" along which are to be found some of the very freshest, locally produced ice cream venues in the Granite State.  There are notable absences (we think Jordan's of Belmont and Weirs and Kellerhaus of Weirs deserve a place on the trail) but also a good many household names among the group, including Kimballs, Jaffrey; Walpole Creamery, Walpole and Bishop's Homemade Ice Cream, Littleton.  While not the definitive path to the best icy creamed goodness, it is hardly a trail for tears.

The promotion is intended to showcase both local business and local dairies, 99% of which are family-owned and operated enterprises.  One of our favorites is the ginger ice cream available from Walpole's , but you may prefer Kimball's giantic banana splits, or Bishop's to-die-for Maple Walnut ice cream.  Frankly, any choice at any of these favorite haunts are the biggest no-brainers in the history of earth.  Do it.  Have a little fun before the snow flies.

Roadtrippers.com has made it easy for you to locate your New Hampshire ice cream trail favorites (don't forget about Jordan's and Kellerhaus).  Click here for directions to each place and let the journey begin.
