Evans Farm is a group of 143 homes in McLean between Dolley Madison (Route 123) and Chain Bridge Road. Those 143 homes consist of 68 Townhomes, 44 Single Family, 13 Condos, and 18 “Affordable”. The “Affordable” homes were gifted to the neighboring Lewinsville Retirement Residences to give them the ability to expand where they otherwise could not. The Single Family homes’ floor plans are the Award Winning Belvedere and Rosewell designs. The community was built in the mid to late 2000s.

Residents enjoy beautiful private amenities including a centuries old Millhouse and Stonehouse, Evans Farm Pond, Paths, and 6 “Pocket Ponds.” We asked a resident of Evans Farm her favorite aspects of living in Evans Farm. She said “I first moved into Evans Farm 13 years ago. The first thing I noticed was how quiet the neighborhood was… I love the center park in the middle of our neighborhood. I happen to live right on this park and I feel likes its my own private park. There are benches in every part and it is peaceful to sit and enjoy nature…”

The original Millhouse and Stonehouse were recently renovated and remain with Evans Farm pond as symbols of this neighborhood’s past. Bayard Evans, the namesake of this neighborhood, purchased this land in the 1940s while it was still used as farm land, predating Rt 123 by a decade. Before that it was owned by the Walton family for a short while and before that it was the Besley family farm for hundreds of years. Some of the trees in the neighborhood were likely owned by the Besleys hundreds of years ago. Evans Farm later became home to Evans Farm Inn, a family-run restaurant,
shop, petting-zoo, and the Sitting Duck Pub, a singalong bar. When sold and made residential, one of the families bought and later donated life-size bronze deer statue that still stands at Mill Pond Park at the entrance of Evans Farm.

Residents of this neighborhood also enjoy a friendly community and an active HOA. “Every Friday night at 6:00PM there is a gathering of all neighbors at the “Stone House” in the center of the community, that want fellowship and spirits. Everyone brings what they want to drink, to celebrate the beginning of a new weekend!!” The narrow streets and rear loaded garages keep the streets slow and safe. The HOA vigilantly manages upkeep and beautification of the neighborhood as well as hosting some community events.

In addition to all the wonderful historical and design aspects of this neighborhood, the location can’t be beat. A heartbeat from downtown McLean, children attend the McLean school pyramid. With easy access to GW Parkway, you can be in downtown DC in 20-30 minutes or head west on 123 and be in Tysons Corner in minutes.
