12 Facebook Marketing Tips for Realtors
I am an older agent and this is all new to me but this is a great read that I would encourage everyone to read.
I recently attended a class on Facebook Marketing for Realtors because I want to do all I can to promote my business as well as my Facebook Business Page. My friend Chris Adcock, CIO and IT Consultant, taught the class and shared valuable information on social media marketing.
Following are 12 tips from the class:
- First, have a business page. Your business page should have the company name in the title to satisfy the Real Estate Commission. You can post info to your business page then SHARE to your personal page, thus ensuring you have satisfied the disclosure rule set forth by your state Real Estate Commission.
- Post regularly to your business page. Keep your posts interesting and relevant.
- Remember the 80/20 rule. Every post should NOT be about a listing. The majority of your posts should be topics of local interest, articles, or infographics. Only 20% should be on listings. Keep your audience engaged.
- More people use Facebook Messenger to make connections rather than email. Messenger is more reliable.
- You can create "lists" of contacts, within your business page, i.e., past clients, prospects, Realtors, etc, and you can target your posts to these specific people.
- Don't be negative or derogatory! Remember, this is Social Media. Sometimes it's better to keep your political or controversial opinions to yourself.
- Familiarize yourself with Facebook Groups. You can join (or create) neighborhood groups, special interest groups, educational, etc. There are numerous professional and tech support groups for Realtors that you can join and share ideas. Real estate ~ Out of the Box Owl is one of my favorites!
- Use great content! Some ideas are buyer and seller tips, community parks, points of interest, etc. Basically if you would write a post about it, it's good content for Facebook.
- Share your blog posts to your Facebook page.
- Use the Facebook Page PlugIn on your website. This allows you to embed and promote your Facebook Page on your site.
- Facebook Advertising - I've recently discovered Facebook advertising and it is a very economical way to promote your business to a targeted market, MUCH more affordable than traditional print advertising.
- Social Media Time Management. Remember my motto? Everything in moderation. While social media is a valuable tool, it isn't the ONLY tool in your toolbox. Limit your time on SM so you'll have time to do what you do best, list and sell real estate!
Many thanks to Chris for sharing his extensive knowledge in this class. I hope you find it helpful to your business.
