Check out the mess I found yesterday!

What all started out to be a harmless bathroom repair, then turned into a whole bathroom remodel.  Chech out the mess we found hanging and hiding behind some walls in my house!

The day started off with just a simple repair of broken plumbing, and what was supposed to be fixing some tile that was damaged in my bath tub.  Needless to say, by the middle of next week, I will have a brand new bathroom!  My contractor, also a friend, hopefully he will still be my friend after all of this is done, came over to repair these items on Tuesday and noticed when he started ripping down the tile in the tub that the whole wall behind the tub, and surrounding areas had all rotted out.  Water damage like you would not believe.  He got to the wall where my vanity and light fixture were, started pulling that out and tearing it out, and look at the mess he found!

I'm lucky my whole house did'nt burn down!  This was stuffed in a 6 inch space between my bathroom and kitchen.  All hidden and tucked away nice for  no one to find.

I'll post photos when my beautiful new bathroom is all done!

We might all be surprised if we saw what was behind our walls.  Scary.

What a crazy little find!  Good thing you needed to fix some plumbing and tile, or you may not have found this.

Wow, pretty dangerous.  See how everything happens for a reason.  A whole new bathroom, how exciting!

Marie - My contractor might say it was him, I might think someone or something otherwise.

Kevin - I think my wife is smiling on the inside, she may not be showing it on the outside, but she has wanted a new bathroom for the past couple years!

Shirley - It amazes me the things I find in that house.

Jim and Maria - I'm very glad that I found it this way and not the hard way with a fire or something!

Sharon - If it was meant to be, then I suppose it was meant to be.  I can't wait for the new bathroom, the port-o-pottie thing is getting real old!

Bill:  If walls could "really" talk!  Count your blessings that this is now repaired.  I always cringe when I see obvious faults because it naturally makes me wonder what might be wrong that I cannot see.

Looks like one of the previous owners of your house thought him/herself handy and tried to do some work themselves.  Enjoy your new bathroom.

I agree with everyone else, it is scary what may lurk behind walls, especially when the former owner thought that he/she was handy.

I too had a similar situation about 8yrs ago when I had some electrical work done on my old house. The electrician I hired could not figure out how the home had been wired, it was all a mess with extra wire doing nothing, some live wires stuffed in areas and not capped properly etc..

That is crazy... Now this is something a home inspector would not find.  Let us know how it goes.

Hahah Im sorry what exactly is that electrical mess suppose to be. :) My friend bought a house from me and was telling me when remodeling the tile floor she realized the people put another layer of tile over the old. So she had to bust up two layers of tile. I had to laugh.

Donna - I knew 5 years ago when I bought the house it would have it's faults, I'm just getting a little sick and tires of finding more of them!

Carolyn - that is why I pay people to do that work for me!  I know that I can't do it, so I don't even try!

Christopher - It amazes me everytime I see stuff like this.  Can you imagine what they were thinking?

Christina - I wish my home inspector would have found it.  Highly unlikely that anyone would have though.

Heather - It amazes me sometimes when I see stuff like this.  Some people should just let the pros. take of things like this!

Bill - You just never know what you might find in a home that has had renovations.
