Face To Face Networking - LinkedIn Live Phoenix

On Tuesday night my company sponsored a face to face networking event that happens once a month at various venues around the Greater Phoenix Arizona area. This networking group is called LinkedIn Live and it consists of people who are members of LinkedIn.com who get together offline to meet and get to know each other better and learn about each others' businesses. The event was held at the Pink Taco Restaurant at the Waterfront in Scottsdale Arizona on Tuesday May 13, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. About 100 people attended and I met and talked to about 20 new business owners who I had not met previously as well as connecting with some old friends and business associates.

Great idea Bill sunds like it was a success. Also sounds as if it is a good place to take Linkedin to the next level. How did you find people on LinkedIn that are businesses other than Realtors(r)?

Hi Chris,

It does tend to be a very positive and productive networking event.

When you go to linkedin.com and use the link at the top that says "Advanced Search" you can specify to show you people within 50 miles of a zip code or in a certain metro area and you can also specify their industry.

You can also indicate how to sort the results.

That way, you can search your local area, search all industries, or just one industry, sort by number of connections, or sort by degrees away from you, and then select those who you want to invite.
