Some newer members of ActiveRain may not have discovered that you can add to your daily points total by commenting on your own blog. This is a feature that makes little sense to me but you may as well take advantage of until changes are made.

For some reason I thought it was 60, not 50 comments per day, Roy. Then again, not sure I was counting!

Good morning Roy.  I'm not a big fan of this feature, but it is good to know.

I think they should eliminate points for commenting on your own blogs. I prefer to see encouragement to comment on the blogs of others.

Roy Kelley - What is funny is that when I came back after my AR sabbatical, I was SO frustrated with the lack of 'flow' in conversations - everyone was making separate comments and I had NO idea why.

It's true, you do get the points but, more importantly, if you want to keep the conversation going, when you TAG someone in a comment below their comment (and not a separate one), they don't get the alert - EVER! Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD, I believe that is why MOST people (who aren't after the points) are making totally separate comments - so their commenters are notified that the original author has responded.

I know that's a long, drawn out way to explain it but, the icing on the cake, I suppose, is that you do get points...and more interaction...in a separate comment!

I had no clue, Roy.  Thanks for sharing.  I will now comment with a fresh comment rather than under the one already generated.

"Comment" button within a comment is a great way to reply and keep a smooth flow in the comment section, but as Debe Maxwell, CRS explained, those replies are not always seen because the person you are replying to doesn't receive a notification of it and doesn't know it's there.

Thanks Kathy Streib for tagging me.  I see Debe got to it before I had a chance.

Hi Roy -- I try to answer any questions that may be left as a comment on one of my posts but generally just a like and if time permits a general "blanket" comment thanking everyone.

This post offers some great suggestion for those members looking to reach either free membership or a new milestone in AR points.

I suspect there are many who are not aware of this opportunity. And commenting on what other have said about your post is a great way to engage, and even have a conversation.
