Exhilarating Wake-up Call in Sedona AZ!

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Realty NRDS # 146013739

Good Morning Sedona!

Grabbed a cup of coffee and was heading outside to feel the exhileration of the 37º. We have not been in the 30ºs for many months and this was a real surprise.

When out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure moving across my garden!

I went to get my phone to snap a pic and another bobcat appeared.

This is not an unusual sight to see. Every couple of months we can see them.  There are paw marks on a wall in the courtyard in the front of the house where we have a fountain. I am pretty sure that they are looking for water. The spriklers came on while they were trying to cross over to a spa in the next yard!

Sheri,

So glad you got a picture of the bobcats.  They are beautiful creatures.  When I first saw them outside our bedroom glass door, I thought they were regular cats!  A

Hi Endre,

If you just walk outside for a couple of minutes it is not too bad. Because we are so close to national forest, we look all around before venturing too far.  I keep a broom handy in the front and the back. Animals always scurry away.

Sheri we have been having unusual hot weather here in CT for this time of the year, it was in the high 80's today.  But we will be experiencing low temperatures very soon.  However, I can safely say Bobcats will not be part of our cold temperatures.

First pic we ever got George!  Like we posed them. Three kittens were playing with their mom close by!

Hi Gita, They are afraid of humans unless they have rabies. It does not mean I don't keep my distance...with an escape route in mind!

Sheri, brrrr upper 30's sounds so chilly right now. So neat to see the bobcats in your garden. What a great surprise!

Hi Amanda,

I normally don't worry about freezing temps until mid November. We will see if this was a fluke.

I've heard there is a bobcat rambling around Bristow, VA.  If so, it's a very rare occurrence, unlike seeing them in Sedona, AZ.

HI Chris,

The only animal I have not seen is a bear. I hear that they occasionally come into some neighborhoods but not ours ...yet!

Hi Sheri --- now, that's a wake-up call that would have me jumping out of bed to take a photo too.   Also from the inside of the house.

HI Michael,

Oh wow, these cats are gorgeous. Wish my sis would have a camera nearby when she spotted the one prowling around our parts. Smart to take the photo through the glass - although, they would probably be afraid of you. What a thrilling way to start the day. D

Hi Debb,

I think they were trying to get to a neighbor's backyard where there is a water feature. The sprinklers came on and cut off the path to the wall they had to climb! (I saw them 3 weeks ago going over the wall)!

They are beautiful, Sheri! How lucky you were to capture this. You can have that 37 degrees, though.

Hi Jeff!

Ha! Ha! I would have said the same thing (about 37º) when I lived in CA. We do love all the wildlife we see here. In Sedona, we have to allow for wild animals to migrate.

Those are not your normal house kitties, Sheri.  They are gorgeous animals. You're lucky to have captured such wonderful shots.

Hi Myrl,

My kids got to participate in many litters being born. My first sighting, I thought they might be lynx.

I have always loved cats and after researching these beautiful animals and absolutely love the coloring and the markings.

Hi Jim,

Yes it is! We live close to a wash and I have seen a mountain lion or two near the wash. This seems like the route that they travel from their dens.
