Point2Agent Professional Site Hosting Is Worth Every Penny!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with RE/MAX Professionals 94238

Just launched new my new real estate agent site www.classichomesnorthwest.com

In an effort to provide as much help as possible to other agents who are trying to create and maintain websites I going to start a series of posts that I hope will provide value to everyone that is working on their own websites.

Katerina Gasset is a huge fan of Point2Agent web hosting. Since I won the contest with Katerina for coaching she has been urging me to move my web sites to Point2Agent. Being a stubborn type of guy I resisted for about a month. Let me tell you Katerina can be very persuasive! I created a new domain and went ahead and created the standard Point2Agent account. This is free for six months so I thought I would be able to determine if wanted to pay $49.95 a month for hosting before actually committing to it. After a couple of weeks my standard template site was receiving more hits than my established site on a different hosting company and more hits than my brokerages site as well. Stubborn but not stupid I upgraded to the trial of the Professional account. After a couple of days of "tinkering" I am here to tell you that you need to move your real estate site to Point2Agent if you are not receiving the traffic that you expect.

The volume of behind the scenes assistance with a Professional account is impressive! When you accidentally delete your content on your home page you can call and they are so polite when they ask you "Do you see that blue trash can in the center of your monitor that says Restore Content?" Yes, I see that...."Click that and you can restore your page" No snickers not chuckles just friendly help!

With the Professional and the Premium they provide toll free tech support. With the standard you receive tech support via email. Just being able to call and ask how to get my content back was worth a months fees!

You can add up to 150 pages with a Professional account. 15 is the limit with the standard.

You can have your own POP3 email setup so you can have your emails sent directly to your email client. With the professional you can have up to 15 email accounts. With the standard you can just have your emails forwarded to another account you have elsewhere.

You can fully customize your website so that it does not look anything like any of the large number of templates that you can choose from.

I could go on but here is a link to show you the features for each of the three types of accounts. Take a look for yourself. I am getting nothing from this just the satisfaction of knowing that my website will be very visible shortly and when I finish putting the content in it will be a great looking site.

Your first step to a better website is a better hosting company. Take a look at Point2Agent for your hosting needs.

Next in the series will be how to customize your homepage to look how you want it to.

Hi Scott, I have a point 2 site and I do love the customizing. I rarely get leads from it but I also don't promote it much, I usually link to my Number 1 site and search site and blog. Good luck with it, Katerina can be very pursuasive ! LOL

Scott-  I've had a Point2 site for a couple of years.  I haven't done anything fancy with it, but it's easy to enter and update custom content.  I was repeatedly told that you couldn't get high rankings with a template site.  If you Google "Westport Real Estate", I'm #3, on page 1.

Take the time to replace some of their "canned" content and pictures, with your own.  It's worth the effort.

Marilyn- It is easy to work on and there is so much there that you can customize. I am really happy. I know that I could of paid a lot of money for a custom designed site but would not of had the backend that is provided by Point2. I'm glad you're ranking as high as you are. I hope that I will be up there soon.

Roland- You need to spend some time working on the site and you will begin to see the true power of the professional plan. The lead generation is fantastic and really is worth the price of the plan in and of itself.

Best,

Scott

Hi Scott. I have a P2 account as well. I'm getting quite a few leads from it already, but plan on upgrading to the Professional here soon.

Laura- I really like the backend stats available to the professional version. That and I can have more pages etc. One of the other cool things is that you can point quite a few (I think it's 100) domains to the page for the same price. For example I have www.classichomestacoma.com www.classichomesgigharbor.com they both point to www.classichomesnorthwest.com

Instead of paying hosting fees for all three I pay just for one.

Best,

Scott

Does your site generate leads?  If not, what is the point?  Bells and whistles, lots of pages?  Doesn't really matter if folks aren't letting you know they like your site by signing in.  This is the main point most realtors miss - their website is there for one reason: to impress the search engines, not the web surfers...

Leads are at the end of the day what matters. I agree I do disagree that the only reason a website is there is to impress search engines and not surfers. I think that a good website does both. It invites in search engines to crawl the pages and to store the data. AND it invites in surfers to look around and feel comfortable taking the next step towards becoming a client. Without both the site does not meet you needs.

Thanks for the comment!

Best,

Scott

Thanks so much for the information Scott.  I've been using just the standard website for 4 years with a few hits, but nothing earth shattering.  I was told that I need to move up to the professional membership level to help increase my hits.  I understand that it gives you more freedom, but have you noticed more activity on your site since you originally posted this in May?

Dale- I have not been too active in recent months due to some family type issues so my site has just been sitting around. I just checked my stats and they have climbed every reporting period without my help =) this is good news. I feel like it is a good investment of my $$$

Roland- Having a way to import leads out of our sites would be nice I agree with you. I'm just starting to scratch the surface with what the automated systems can do with P2 so I hopeful that they will help make it a more powerful tool than it is already. Then perhaps I will not want to export the leads to my other programs.

Hi Scott,

I'm new to real estate and I have pretty much heard nothing but good things about the point 2 agent websites.  I am going to start with the standard and see how it goes.  I wanted to ask, what is your recommendation for a new agent to attract traffic to the website.  I'm so new to this (smile).

Thanks,

Scott, I also have a professional Point2 site that doesn't generate as much traffic as it could, but I'm working on it.
