Habits Start With Motivation | Carved In Stone When Done Consistently

I learn from Barbara Todaro so much since being in the rain.  This is another great blog from her.

The word “habit” is one that complements the word “marketing” for me and is the catalyst to successful marketing. How does one form a habit? It’s formed when a pattern of behavior is “repeated consistently.”

Now, when one thinks about habits, often those habits are not good ones!  Habits such as smoking, eating, drinking and drugs are some of the most publicized and easily established by the many people. Each of these habits began with one attempt of trying it. One try became two, and the ball rolled and gained momentum.

Those bad habits were carved in stone, and depending on one’s strength of mind, the efforts to break the habits may or may not have been successful.

All habits are not bad habits. Staying fit and eating properly can become a good habit; working out consistently can become a good habit; and marketing everyday can become a habit that results in more income. Marketing IS a habit.

Whether online or offline, the task needs to be addressed. It must be a priority. “At any one time, one thing is more important than another.”  That’s the determining factor in creating a habit.  Do you want to work (market) at that moment or do you want to put it aside and do it later (procrastinate?)

The factors are plentiful for breaking habits, and our degree of discipline will determine whether one breaks the habit or carves it in stone. With marketing, working it consistently with no voids will eventually create a habit. Having a routine in place and feeling a sense of obligation to maintain that habit will make it easier to retain it.

Just as I do “mindful eating,” thinking about marketing and making the phone ring is enough incentive for me to never have a gap or void.  The degree of importance of the “habit” is the determining factor.  How important is marketing in your game plan?

Just another thought for the moment…..
