My blogging time is short as our practice is busy and getting our FUNd raiser together on October 21st means working about all the hours we can stay awake....birthdays don't know that....and they come anyway....and David's was yesterday.. We had already had a surprise party informally on Tuesday and so late night was a..."just us" dinner at the Stoneridge Inn which is our favorite supper club not far from our house. We know John and Diane, the owners.....and it always feels like a family dinner but without the prep ....almost always "making new friends" or seeing someone you know. Specials are wonderful...soup just the way I would make it....and we enjoy our time there, every time.
A good friend shares a birthday with David and called while we were having dinner to report he had been admitted to the hospital for more aggressive cancer treatment. Tears shed and texts sent to his former brokerage to alert them that cards would be appreciated.
Diane, of course without asking, volunteered to a donate a basket to our silent auction for the Halloween Spooktacular and we gratefully accepted while enjoying her treat of birthday nightcap at the bar. Also watching the Packers BEAT the Bears....a special treat for David's birthday we KNEW would happen !
As Barbara Todaro knows and most other people who know me well...Packer games are as much a time for networking as they are for cheering on the home team. I struck up a conversation with the gentleman next to me and we talked about everything from health care....to wait...where do you live...where are you from...and Yes...he did have two properties to sell. It turns out that he was a high school classmate...! His wife and daughter battling some serious health issues and he was on his way home from hospital visits. We will meet about business and share hugs soon !
The "iife is short" little voice was echoing as the tears fell easily on the short drive home...enjoy it now....and always....Have a wonderful weekend...Hansons Both.
