I was just looking at my website statistics and it I had over 4500 hits on Friday and averaging about 1350 a day... is that good.... I think it's great.

But maybe someone can help me understand what's the difference between a hit and a session graph and page view?.... What should I be excited about?

OK well - that's all

Well my understanding which is limited the deeper they go into you website the better .

Front page hits are not as good as 2nd 3rd 4th page search / reviews

What do you think drove so many people towards your site

Yes, I'd like to know what got folks to your site.  Are you in Google?  What page?  What's your secret?  OK last question...How'd you do it?

Thanks,

Firstly Nattalie, congrats on driving all o that traffic to you site. It's so funny - a lot of people dismiss Craig's List, when it is actually a very valuable way of driving folks to your site.

The term 'hits' is a little misleading as it makes us think that if a website gets 100 hits that 100 people visited that website....unfortunatley not the case. If your webpage has say 4 images on it then for one visit I have generated 5 hits (1 for each image + 1 for the visit to that page).

Sessions measure each unique visitor....so if I say I have 100 sessions for the day that is probably a better indicator of my web traffic than if I tell you I got 100 hits.

Someone in sales could probably better advise you on page views. I know that it is similar to sessions and that advertisers like to compare page views with sales to determine if they shold continue to advertise......but I am not sure.

Hope that helps!
