Fall Marketing Tips for Real Estate AgentsThis article was originally published on the Home Value Leads blog.

Fall officially hits on September 22, so now is the perfect time to start planning you fall marketing efforts for the season. Themes abound in real estate as the summer heat subsides to crisper weather. We've rounded up a few of our favorite ideas to incorporate into your social media, newsletters and blog.

Host a Clothing or Canned Food Drive

Getting involved in the community is a great way to gain exposure with the community and to contribute something meaningful at the same time. One great example that is perfect for autumn is to hold a clothing or canned food drive. You can plan a stand-alone event or incorporate it into an open house. Be sure to get the word out by posting onto local event calendars, including on your website, posting on social media and submitting a pitch to local media. Many of these promotional vehicles are free and just take a little time to do. Although a major objective is to let people learn more about you and your business, keep most of the focus on the drive and who you are helping. The positive publicity and attention for your business will follow.

Sponsor a Fall Event

It's festival time, and you better believe everyone will be outside enjoying the cooler temps and camaraderie. Neighborhoods, schools, local nonprofits or community centers usually hold either a fall fun run, festival or other themed event for which they ask for sponsors. That could be you! Ask around for future events. Jump on the research as soon as you can. Most sponsorships have deadlines so the event planners can include logos, links and Facebook post shout-outs sooner rather than later. You definitely don't want to miss those promotional opportunities. If you don't have the budget to sponsor, then consider asking the hosting organization for volunteer opportunities. You might not be able to splash your logo or information more prominently, but you can certainly wear a company t-shirt.

Fall-Themed Posts and Newsletters

Fall is a great time for many people to consider selling or buying a home. The weather is better, everyone's back from vacation and it's timely for many who want to get everything done before the year is over. Encourage leads, for example, to take advantage of this influx in activity and consider selling their home now. Write a blog post touting the advantages of listing now versus spring and include some stats to back up your claim. You can then post a tidbit from and link to your post on social media and in your next newsletter. For current clients, give them ideas on how to prepare their homes for fall. A short list of tips that you can write about include:

  • Cleaning downspouts and gutters that fill up with falling leaves.
  • Give your house a fresh coat of paint while the weather is cooler.
  • Roof maintenance to prepare for winter weather.
  • Fireplace and chimney maintenance.
  • Furnace or heater tips, such as replacing filters and cleaning systems.
  • Window and door seals to keep out cold air and save on energy costs.

Keeping your marketing current to the season is a great, fresh way to stay top of mind with current clients, open new doors with leads and continue to share your expertise in real estate. What other ideas do you plan to employ this fall?
