The theme for Halloween at the Dallas Arboretum is The Wizard of Oz. Membership for the Arboretum is a worthwhile investment for people of all ages and guests (limited numbers) are included. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz can be enjoyed in the Pumpkin Village (no additional fee) via the Yellow Brick Road and it's quite an adventure with incredible color and creative Oz displays!

If there was ever a time to consider membership, now is the time! Celebrate the season at the Arboretum. National Pumpkin Day is Thursday, October 26th from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Dallas Arboretum will be offering pumpkin flavored foods. Master Gardeners will be on-site every Thursday until November 16 to answer gardeners questions.

Have the courage, wisdom and a heart to become a member or simply visit often. Fees for admission are so reasonable. To accommodate many different schedules, Wednesday evenings after normal operating hours is extended from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. every Wednesday through October 18, 2017.

Members only can start their day early daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Oktoberfest Gardens provide a traditional German cuisine that includes sausages and beer daily between 11 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Mommy & Me Mondays, and Tiny Tot Tuesdays through November 21, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. is a great time to connect with kids either at Pumpkin Village or in the Pecan Grove where activities include face painting, music, a petting zoo and artists too! Musicians in the park always make it more enjoyable too.

Brenda Whitman, Live in Laramie Real Estate - I feel confident you would thoroughly enjoy it. The Dallas Arboretum is open year round. Volunteers keeps the gardens interesting with new themes and many different exhibits. For families it's a great experience but it's also very single person friendly too. They offer many opportunities for everyone to get involved. If you ever get down here, I'll be happy to treat you to a day at the Dallas Arboretum. As a member, I can take up to six guests without any additional cost.

Many kudos to the lovely Patricia Feager - your pictures are fabulous!!  I want to be there . . .  I do love Fall and Halloween.  And am also a fan of 'anything' pumpkin - HA!  It sounds like the Arboretum has many wonderful events, and who wouldn't want to be a member.  What a magical place!  Thank you for sharing . . .

Allie Angeloni - You're right! The Dallas Arboretum is truly magical! Since I've never been to Disneyland or Disney World, this is the next best thing because magic occurs continuously, especially with every season. If you're ever this way, let me know and be guest of mine at the Dallas Arboretum.

How fun that will be.  I love the Wicked Witch feet sticking out.  I remember watching this movie every time it came on growing up.  Those crazy flying monkeys got me everytime.

Belinda Spillman - When I arrived at the house that dropped on the wicked witch there were kids bending over staring at the legs. It was cute but they were so quick, I couldn't get their picture fast enough!

Actually, I still watch the Wizard of Oz when on during the holidays. It mesmerizes me all the time! Those crazy flying monkeys scared the jeebers out of me and they are still  scary! LOL!

Patricia

Was just watching Antique's Roadshow and Bert Lahr's original movie script was valued at $150,000. cheers cvc

Hi Curtis Van Carter - WOW! I wonder what the writer would think today if he and/or she knew his script was valued at $150,000.00! From what I understand, it was widely received and they had trouble casting actors. Judy Garland wasn't even their first choice. But it still is a Classic and one of mine and many others great movies.

Thanks for letting me know about the value of the original movie script. That's quite interesting! I like Antique Roadshow.

HI Patricia Feager ,

What a wonderful way to bring in the Fall season!  When I get a chance, I love to visit our Desert Botanical Garden in the Phoenix area. There is something very special about these experiences!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - Today's post has more pumpkins, gourds, and squash. I love to visit Botanical Gardens. I never get tired of the one in Dallas and I like to visit them when I travel to other places. I've been to Phoenix, but never did get to see the Desert Botanical Garden. I'll be it's gorgeous and it would be especially fun to see for Halloween.

I would love it.  I always enjoyed watching the Wizard of Oz when I was a kid, it was always on tv this time of the year.  I will have to try and catch it again, if a game isn't on, haha.

Brian England - I'm with you! When it's on, I have to watch it and I never get bored. The acting was so good. I think it showed creativity at its best! They were so ahead of their time, e.g., changing the color of horses and who could forget those charming Munchkins!
