From Razr to Treo

It was a bit of a stretch for me to make the big cell phone move from Razr to Treo. Financially, it was more of a cost, especially since Verizon PAID me $50 to get a Razr. Then there was the time. Time to learn another cell phone and the functions that I need to survive and also explore the functions that I might need.

Now, after three months of switching to Treo, I am so glad to have made the switch, but still frustrated at times with the speed to do the simple task of making a phone call. On my Razr, after having programmed all my contacts, it took 1-3 clicks or screens to make a call. Now, it takes 3 - 7 clicks to make a call.

What I like is the sync that is done wireless and automatically. As soon as I add a contact in Outlook or on my phone, it syncs to the other right away. Contacts, calendar, and email all syncs without having to do a thing.

Email and web access are so great. My email is at my fingertips and I never knew how valuable that can be until now. Even on vacation, I was able to help my brand new assistant write up an offer for a referral while I was waiting to get on Space Mountain. This capability alone has paid for itself and might even pay for my trip!

Let me know any other things you like about Treo or any pointers for those things that are a headache.

Brian, That is interesting.  I actually traded in my TREO for a RAZR.  the sound quality on my treo drove me flippin crazy and it always sounded like people were mumbling...I lost about half of the conversations...ugh!!!  After having the RAZR for a year and loving it...I just made the jump and got the IPHONE...I am loving the Iphone and am currently working on some push marketing technologies with SMS, email, video etc that is real estate related.  I will start adding posts to my blog as I play around with it more if anyone is interested.

The Iphone is a cool toy and great for Internet access, email and sms and blogging on the fly.  Plus I can access my IDX on it anywhere anytime...sweet.  I am sure the TREOprobably has these capabilities as well.  Plus, I had to travel to the in-laws recently in the middle of nowhere and being able to download a couple of movies and have wireless Internet access at my finger tips in theirunderground...yes I said underground house was priceless....I also love being able to go for my run on the beach, blast my music really loud and if i get a call...it breaks in and lets me know....no more missed important calls because I am blasting my favorite tunes...oh and the ability to select which voice mails to listen to without having to listen to all of them is priceless time saver...pretty cool...Have fun with your new toy. I know people that say the TREO is the best phone they have ever had....but they get googly when they see my new toy :-)

I like the TREO too. I have contacts on a speed button, so I just hold the p key to go right to contacts.  I then put in first and last initial and the contact comes right up.

Hope that helps.

All the best!

The iphone - hmmm - I've heard mixed reviews. Guess it's a carrier thing for me. Being with Verizon, I seldom lose calls and have a network that also uses Verizon that saves me minutes. Sounds like the network with the iPhone is great too.

Brian, I still have a razr but I need to switch phones and possibly phone service providers.  I have  T-Mobile, who I have had for years and their service is fine but their customer service is not so fine.  I'm not sure what I am doing yet, but I need to make my decision soon!

My wife had a Treo and had to have it replaced 3 times in 6 months. Not sure if I want to take a chance on one. I'm sure it was just a isolated case of problems. I have a RAZR that I like because it's not bulky. I'm holding out for the IPhone.

Best,

Scott

Brian,  I have seen so many people have such a hard time getting the TREO to work.  I have not purchased one for that reason.  Seems like as soon as they get one issue resolved, a new one pops up.  Why pay for something that doesn't work.  I have seen them on the phone for hours trying to get things fixed.  Some are on their third TREO.

I decided that it's not for me.  May-be they will work out the bugs or come up with something better in the meanwhile.

Fortunately, I have not had issues with my TREO yet. Sometimes it acts like it is stuck, but it doesn't happen often. I do have the newer model and the PALM version. I've heard the WINDOWS version is a mess.
