It's Adopt A Shelter Dog Month at the Humane Society of Charlotte during October... and across the nation, as a matter of fact. If you've been thinking about "adding" to your family, why not consider adopting a shelter dog?
As the Humane Society of Charlotte puts it... "come meet our adorable canines and you may just have a new walking buddy, couch potato partner or forever friend." Here's your link to meet some of the Humane Society of Charlotte's dogs available for adoption.
Did you know that up to 8 million pets end up in shelters each year and that half of these will never be adopted? That may explain why over 50% of dogs in shelters end up euthanized. And if you're looking for a specific breed, it's worth noting that some 25% of the animals in shelters are actually pure breds. $1 billion annually is spent picking up, sheltering, and euthanizing pets in this country! Homeless pets outnumber homeless people by 5 to 1. Can you think of any reason not to adopt if you are looking for your fur-ever companion?
The Humane Society of Charlotte has two adoption locations in town:
-

This is where I contribute food and supplies. They run the PAWSibilities Thrift Shop in Fort Mill and that's where I contribute clothing, books, household items, etc. So, if you can't see your way clear to adopting a shelter dog, why not adopt a local shelter and help out with your time, money, supplies?
