Good morning Gayle. This is really cool. What is it? I have looked at it for a couple of minutes and can't figure it out.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin Ding! Ding! Ding! You got it right and Sheri Sperry - MCNE® you were on the right track.

Sheila Anderson I love that you spent a couple of minutes trying to figure it out. They are the COOLEST trees! Kristin Johnston - REALTOR®, now you know, too!

Here's another capture in the same woods. Without the bark, they are much different.

Gayle-Well I wouldn't have guessed this. Closest I thought were leaves you had cut up. Birds I know. Bark not so much. Bet those trees are gorgeous with that color bark.

I can't tell what it is, but it looks like confetti that wouldn't be as messy as the really small stuff, haha.

Joe Pryor are you disappointed or did you want to know right away??

Sharon Lee you are so good at guessing, I'd figured you'd be one of those who would get it immediately. BUT, I could take a nod from nature and try to replicate this!

Brian England

yes, when you spread it around it's okay not to pick it up on Mother Earth's floor!

LOL Well, I should have read the first few comments first - I could not figure that out to save my soul, Gayle! I would love to see the tree in-person - I'm sure it's beautiful!

Jeff Dowler yeah, Wanda blew it out! So surprising as she doesn't live in this state.

Debe Maxwell, CRS it was really a beautiful tree...these Madrones always take my breath away...they're so unusual. I think they'd make incredible furniture.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 I love it when I can stump people! Yeah, you won't be seeing it in your area for sure.

Kathy Streib and Myrl Jeffcoat that's the joy of a mystery--what people see into it. I had to go and look at it again through your eyes...yes, I could see the pasta angle!

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD part of me wanted to peel this off and take some of it home to re-purpose, but I don't think it would have sustained itself enough, darn it. Love these Oregon trees!

I love everything about nature. This is a bark from a tree I have never seen before. Thanks to you and Wanda Kubat-Nerdin I am smarter now than when I first woke up today!

That's quite a bark and very pretty too! To be honest, I was thinking it was something I saw in Japan. There were little pieces of paper pinned to a natural piece of wood and a table near by with a jar of pieces of paper and pencils. Anyone could write down a wish and then pin it for good karma and good luck!

Debe Maxwell, CRS regarding these magnificent trees, I TOO would love to have at the very least, ONE of them in my yard, because they are so very unique.

Patricia Feager something that you shared just speaks to my heart so clearly. That' the Japanese would do something like this gives me pause, yet again about their vast history in living and how much they could teach us "newbies" in America since they are thousands of years ahead of us.
