What do your buyers want today?

So, here in North Jersey, I'm seeing that buyers are interested in a more casual style of living.  More open spaces, more natural light, clean lines, less ornamental detailing, nominal window treatments.  Formal spaces are becoming a thing of the past as their use becomes more and more infrequent.  Entertaining continues to be less and less formal.  Millenials don't want the china and crystal as who wants to be that formal.

I have seen this style termed Modern Farmhouse, yes, even in Northern New Jersey.  Here are a couple photos that show this style.

Gordon Crawford Buyers in south Florida are looking for much the same.  There are antique shops filled with collections of stuff people no longer want.  Many are looking for those same clean lines and the barn door.

Similar here in Northwest Washington, open floor plans, lors of light, skylights, grandma's stuff is gone.

Your first photo is indicative of what I see in my Mississippi market, even the same light fixtures! Lighter tile and granite is in, as I have a love affair with barn doors.

Thanks Michael for taking the time to comment.  I think that most of us are seeing the same trends regardless of where we are in the country.

Pat, I love the barn doors as well.  Quaint and charming, a little bit more character than a six-panel door.  My thanks for taking the time to comment.

Good morning Gordon - that really seems to be the feeling everywhere.  The open floorplan is less formal.
