Thoughts for the Day from Rhode Island and Beyond
Real estate requires stamina, knowledge, thought and follow through that works for clients and the Realtor. Yet breaks in that world of business are important to invigorate oneself, learn beyond ones borders and to just decompress. So in my travels to California in the last week (with a good Associate to monitor my business) I could do all of that.
Lots of miles from Napa, CA to Carmel by the Sea it was a world wind week of stops, explorations, real estate stops and just enjoyable. The people of CA are always warm and welcoming to all.
Alas, the beautiful CA vineyards visited, enjoyed and seen are all under seige as that St. Helena highway is now challenged by the devastating fires and incredible high winds. Getting out of there in time was having someone at our back for sure. It is so sad to see loss from an area that is so productive and beautiful. One will note that for an Easterner I note, having a tree man in my family, that 'tinder' is everywhere and with the dryness you understand the living aspects of this CA state.
Have to say that as always Jarvis vineyards were inspiring, the amazing dinner at Mondavi with entreprenurial women was eye opening and the graciousness of our taster at Clos du Val all made for a great experience there. The Monterey coast and wharf makes that area a tourist destination but obviously a great place for people to live and enjoy. Sacramento was a great first stop with Elizabeth Weintraub our ActiveRain friend to meet and have dinner with at a fabulous downtown restaurant...what a beautiful capitol in this state. But definitely the Pacific Coast Highway and that stunning ocean wave with the pearly white sand was it too...as most of you know I am a water person and should have been born under the Aquarius sign! Yes the waves overtook me and I did lose a pair of shoes to that glorious salt water. From San Simeon and Hearst Castle (what a sight you must not miss ever!) to the players at the Pebble Beach golf course and the fabulous artsy town of Carmel by the Sea, this trip was the trip of relaxation and striving.
Yet, returning home is always a pleasure to me and my ocean and winds are far more calming. It brings things into perspective and I know I am home.
