The other day I posted a photo from the master bathroom of a house I showed a couple after I finished putting in their offer.
I explained to them that we needed to give them what they wanted for the house because we had a few extra contingencies (mainly the sale of their home) to overcome. We thought that an extra couple thousand dollars would help them see we were serious.
It was a great offer- over ask price, minimal inspection period, with the standard 45 day FHA close, contingent upon them selling their home which has been under contract and is out of inspection period, (due to close 11/10).
The buyers were excited and optimistic. Until I got the call back from the listing agent that they had gone with another offer! How could that be?!
The sellers had already relocated and wanted to be done with this home, so they took a lower offer that was cash and could close in two weeks.
I tried explaining to the listing agent that our higher offer would more than pay for another months mortgage payments and other expenses, but she said the sellers did not care they just wanted it sold.
Moral of the story: Money isnt everything.
And its back on the hunt for this couple.
