Building Your Business by Forging Relationships with Your Clients

Raise you hand if you are guilty of not spending as much time as you should be on cultivating relationships with your clients. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of attempting to grow your business (marketing campaigns, trade shows, etc.) whilst neglecting to build and maintain good relationships with your clients.

Whether they are clients of the past, present, or future, bottom line is these folks are your bottom line. Show your clients that you care about them and they will return the favor.

  • Keep Them In The Loop - With so many options when it comes to keeping in contact with your clients (mass mailings, email drip campaigns, via phone, etc.) there is no excuse for not keeping them in the loop. Is this season a great one for selling homes in their area? Let them know. Do you have some simple tips for home staging that you think could help them sell their home faster? Feature it in your newsletter.
  • Communication Is A Two Way Street - Ok, so you have sent a mailing and made some phone calls, but the clients don't seem to be taking the bait. Could it be that you are so busy putting your message out there that you aren't listening to what they have to say? Work on your listening skills and solicit feedback - you may be missing out on valuable information.
  • Reward Good Behavior - Did a client send a referral your way? Do you have a client that uses your services on a habitual basis? Show them you are grateful and they will be more likely to continue to utilize your services. And if you can manage to squeeze a gift in there that carries your branding - all the better!
  • Customer Service - Do you have a dedicated member of your team that handles customer service? What happens when there is an issue or an after sales glitch? You want your client's lasting impression of you to be a positive one - make sure it is by providing exceptional customer service.
  • Get Festive - Customer appreciation is the name of the game so make sure to show your clients that they are appreciated. Throw a summertime pool party, send birthday cards and mark their first anniversary in their new home.

So, I hear you ask, how are you supposed to find time to implement all of these action points. Truth be told, you probably don't have the time to do so. That is where a Real Estate Virtual Assistant (REVA) can be a great help. Essentially a REVA can take care of all these tasks (and more) freeing up your time so that you can continue to grow your business. If you are interested in what a REVA can do for you please visit the REVA board on Active Rain for more information.
